Corrugated Metal Pipe Solves Stormwater Detention Issue
The stormwater detention solution used at the Townhomes at Stony Creek consisted of corrugated metal pipe, which met both environmental and budgetary requirements.
As part of Florida Department of Transportation's roadway enhancement project, a channel enclosure was needed. The best solution was a system consisting of DuroMaxx® SRPE, ULTRA FLO® and A-2000™ PVC because together, they met structural necessities and streamlined installation without the need for heavy-duty construction equipment.
As part of a long-term modernization and infrastructure program at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, ArmorFlex®Class 45 and 85L Systems were installed at a former quarry to stabilize the slopes and provide added erosion resistance.
The proverb “Out of sight, out of mind” all too often pertains to buried pipelines. You’ve likely seen references to “Call Before You Dig,” or “DigAlert,” which are services to have underground utility lines located and marked. But on an active construction project, that service is not usually available. The pipe installation contractor has a responsibility to protect what they have built, so it’s incumbent on the pipe installation contractor to locate and mark the pipe location once it’s been buried and is “out of sight.”
Infiltration Done Right: Best Practices for CMP-Based Stormwater Recharge
Infiltration systems offer a sustainable way to manage stormwater by recharging groundwater rather than discharging runoff. Corrugated metal pipe (CMP) based systems allow this to happen underground, preserving surface space. But infiltration design requires close attention to detail, from soils testing to materials specification.
This webinar will provide an introduction to Contech’s long-standing webinar program and a high-level overview of our product portfolio, with a special focus on buried structures. Attendees will gain insight into the unique design considerations required when preparing buried structures to withstand “extreme events” such as floods, fires, and seismic activity.
