Aluminized Steel Type 2 Provides Stormwater Infiltration
At an enhancement project at BNSF's Cicero terminal, a large detention system consisting of 90" diameter Aluminized Steel Type 2 was installed to meet the strict guidelines imposed by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD). The system was selected for its flexible design, cost savings and tight timeline.
A Colonial Flat-style Steadfast Bridges® Vehicular Truss was installed as the best solution to meet both needs. One bridge serves as a pedestrian bridge to connect a trail system and a vehicular bridge to provide emergency access out of the plant.
An A-2000™ PVC storm drain system was installed at the newly constructed RaceTrac gas station to manage the water runoff resulting from the increased impervious area of the parking lot.
A Fitting... Situation | Cast-In-Place Concrete Access Structures or Junction Chambers?? Hmm...
When faced with designing culverts, storm sewers, or underground detention systems, one of the critical decisions you’ll make as the Engineer of Record is pipe selection. Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) is often the go-to solution for stormwater applications, and for good reason. CMP stands out as one of the most versatile pipe products on the market, offering a wide range of sizes, materials, gages, corrugations, and coatings to suit various project requirements. It combines high structural capacity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of installation. But perhaps the most valuable attribute of CMP is its ability to accommodate custom fittings designed to meet the unique challenges of any project.
Myth-Busting Five Common Misconceptions About Manufactured Treatment Devices
In stormwater management, manufactured treatment devices (MTDs) are often recognized as innovative solutions for controlling runoff and enhancing water quality. Yet, despite their growing adoption, several misconceptions about these devices persist, leading to confusion and misinformed decisions. This blog will tackle some of the most prevalent myths surrounding MTDs, shedding light on their true capabilities and effectiveness.
