Urban + Farm Stormwater Detention System

Solving Stormwater Detention on a
Space-Constrained Urban Site

A multi-stage CMP detention system was engineered for a 106-acre mixed-use development.

Urban + Farm in Bozeman, Montana installed Aluminized Steel Type 2 pipe with Xfiltration Joints at four strategic locations. The high-performance stormwater management system met local infiltration requirements and addressed the site’s geotechnical variability.

Kittitas Reclamation District
Transforming an Open Canal into a Safer, Water-Conserving System

Watertight, large-diameter SRPE pipe was selected for the gravity flow channel.

To improve water conservation and public safety, Kittitas Reclamation District enclosed the South Branch Canal in Ellensburg, Washington with DuroMaxx® SRPE pipe. The watertight, large-diameter gravity-flow system reduces water loss and helps prevent accidental drownings with a durable, long-term solution.

Managing Hydroplaning Risks on Airport Runways and Taxiways

Managing Hydroplaning Risks on Airport Runways and Taxiways

Hydroplaning occurs when the tires of a vehicle or aircraft lose contact with the pavement surface due to the presence of water. As aircraft speed and water depth increase, water pressure builds beneath the tire, creating uplift forces that reduce friction between the tire and runway surface. When this happens, the aircraft can lose traction and directional control, resulting in hydroplaning conditions.

Beyond Sizing: Designing Stormwater BMPs for Inspection, Access and Maintenance

Stormwater BMP design usually starts with two basic questions: can the BMP treat the required flow or volume, and can it physically fit on the site? Those questions are important, but they are not enough as a BMP is not fully designed until someone can inspect it, clean it, and understand who is responsible for maintaining it. Maintenance should not be treated as a post-construction problem. It is a design decision.
