BridgeCor Provides Tunnel at Driverless Test Track
The connected and automated vehicle (CAV) research facility recently built by the American Center for Mobility is a proving ground to the growing CAV technology market allowing for product testing, development, validation, and certification. The 500-acre, driverless facility includes a 2.5-mile highway loop, two double overpasses, a railroad crossing, intersections, roundabouts, and a tunnel. Due to its cost effectiveness, a BridgeCor® Deep Corrugated Structural Plate was selected as the best option for the curved, 704-foot long tunnel.
With estuary restoration essential to the area, a system consisting of a Vortechs hydrodynamic separator to pretreat the water before it entered a Filterra Bioscape was selected as the best option. The result was one easy to maintain structure.
When a culvert was severely deteriorated and in need of repair, it was decided that the best option was to reline it with Aluminum Tunnel Liner Plate. TLP was selected for its ability to be assembled inside the host pipe, while also providing a safe working environment.
Issues with a large waterline that cropped up on site for a retaining wall installation team were conquered with science, meticulous precaution, and creative collaboration.
Reline Considerations for Root Intrusion, Compromising Joints, and Void Detection
After recently completing a PDH article for Informed Infrastructureentitled, "How to Design a Culvert Reline Project," I thought it apropos that we take some time here to answer a few more questions regarding reline that I have received over the course of time. So without further ado and in no particular order, let's delve into the World of Reline.
Durability of Aluminized Type 2 Corrugated Steep Pipe Detention Systems
This issue includes a short video to better visually illustrate the durability and general advantages of Aluminized Type 2 (ALT2) corrugated steel pipe (CSP) detention/infiltration systems. In the video, a local Contech sales engineer performed an inspection of a 10-year old, 96-inch diameter, ALT2 CSP system located in Palatine, IL at Fremd High School.
